Wash House

£2,250.00

A rare survivor, this communal wash house hides behind these tenement buildings. The modern red render has cracked and fallen away in places to reveal the original brickwork.

This painting is part of the series ‘Outbuildings’. Inspired by the mood and muted tones of old tinted photographs, daguerreotypes and colourised film, this body of work explores the theme of time and the conversation between the land and the layers of man-made structures upon it. Focussing on the spaces in between, ‘Outbuildings’ explores the architecture in the hidden parts of the urban landscape where time stands still.
